Todd - sorry I overlooked your last posting with the discussion about the PTO. If you're thinking of using it to thro/blo snow you'd have to get the pretty specific snow thrower made to go with it, that is unless you're good at cobblin' up something. With the correct snow thrower made to go with it (IH Model QA42A) it could be a terrific snow machine.
As for an emergency generator or water pump I'll have to let others advise, but generally I don't see these uses. There was an option for an electrical generator back in the day, but I believe it was pretty small.
ok iam asking as to learn suffin here.. lil cornfused to ...

its not so much the blower itself. its the frame work that holds it to tractor ? NF we know wont fit a WF.. but the blower itself will work.

Yes and no. The auger housing where the mounting frame attaches is also different between a QA42 and a QA42A. The QA42 pivots up and back as it is lifted as it has only one pivot point, the QA42A does not pivot back as it lifts up, as it has two parallel links that lift it straight up via 4 pivot points. Here are some photos to illustrate the difference.

First, the QA42 (and QA36) mounting frame.
