Engine: #29
Tractor Model: #97 and 98.

It looks like you have a 147. The "extra engine" is probably the original engine, and the one installed is a replacement 10 hp instead of the 14 it should have.

David,
I think the dash cover (in his other thread) looks like it says 149, or maybe the seller wanted it to be that.

Rick,
Don’t get too concerned with the 149 business. You brought home a tractor you liked well enough to bring home. A 147 is a very capable, and nice looking machine.

Based on the serial number, which is: 349084, your 147 was built in June of 1970. The "Kind Code" of "0041", indicates that it is indeed a 147.

Here's a bit more on the serial number tag. The 205 is a Cub Cadet, the next four digits, 0041 in your case, are the model, the U indicates that it was built in the USA, the numbers after the U are the actual serial number.

Thank you for that information. I like the way you broke it down and explained it.

Sorry. It’s a 147. My mistake.

Boy In this site you have to have everything right!

Things are bound to get confusing when he starts buying 149 parts and they don't fit on his machine, but hey, who am I to judge, maybe some people want to think they have a different machine than what they actually have??
