My slow plan to turn my 128 into a mini 1466 got a traction boost today

I acquired a 128 in 2017. I installed a internal brake rear trans with a 19 tooth 2nd gear but with today’s tire arrival I’m thinking the 17 tooth trans will be fine.

I have a K321 14hp from a 1450 to use, I bought a seat support and fenders last year.

Possibly get it moving on it’s own soon

VINCE -I've never been a fan of the "Long bar-Short bar" rear tractor tire since the OEM sales manager for Good Year told me they invented them to eliminate "Shuddering of the Sound-Gard body at transport speeds on hard surface roads." We were in the tire room at FARMALL at the time. I REALLY didn't care about shuddering Sound-Gard bodies.
I remember Wyatt running a pair at a PD and getting real good traction. You will still need chains in snow on hard surfaces.
With 14 hp you will find the 19T 2nd is a better gearing choice than a 17T.

We had the Goodyear Dyna Torques on a Hesston 880-DT, we found them to possibly be a little slippery side to side while holding a load back on a hill but this might be due to the front or 4 wheel drive holding back compared to all our other 2 wheel drive tractors.

I might be able to use the 19T trans. I will find out, I certainly like the idea of a faster 2nd gear versus slower.
Chains and snow are a must I am in total agreement with you on that, this Cub will probably never be used for snow removal.

I have a 1641 Front axle on the front to level it out. Not sure what size front tires I will be using.

14hp = 19T 2nd

Thinking about those tires as duals on my diesel.....

Thanks Steve, I definitely like the idea of an internal brake and faster 2nd. The 122 in my profile moves right along in 2nd.

I tried to mount one of these tires today and failed, seems these 6 ply tires are rather tough. Think I need to go to my friends tires shop.

I have a set of the 27x10x12s on my JD 420. Haven't had a chance to use them yet (in the process of rebuilding and repowering the tractor). They are better sized to the larger frame tractor. I thought they went on the rims pretty easy. I have them on the 8.5" rims from a JD 318. Now I am going to put 20x8x8 on the fronts to make the tractor level again. The 26x12x12s are just too short.

How much taller are they mounted than Tru Power 26x12x12s ???

3" taller than 26x12x12 turfs?

I'm running 26" Tru Powers on my diesel now, but they are not the tallest tire. Mounted, the 27x10x12 look to be a fair amount taller than the 26" turf. Thinking about running dualed 27x10x27 on the diesel for pulling the chisel plow (traction limited right now), then dropping the right dual to plow.

OR......just build a 4wd and be done with it (like I need another tractor......ha ha)

How tall do those measure mounted?
