Hello, My Dad bought an Original when I was 10 (still have it). Pop and I were both infected with "Yellow Fever" and at one point had over 60 Cubs. That included many parts donors. After Pop passed I had to sell off our collection. It was difficult on many levels. In any event I am currently reassembling a Johnson Workhorse 10 loader that I had removed from a 122 that had serious issues. I acquired a 122 in good condition and am in the process of mounting the loader on it. I had removed and disassembled the loader several years ago. It was blasted and repainted but due to some health issues it was put off. In any event, if anyone has a Johnson 10 loader I would appreciate photos from various angles to assist me in the reassemble project. I have all of my parts and pieces. My memory as to where they all might go is not as sharp as it used to be.

Great story. Please get some pics of your project. It seems like you have some fine memories of the time with your dad. Good stuff man. I have seen a number of the Johnson loaders but I have never owned one. Keep us posted on how your quest and project are going please.

Andrew, welcome back. I remember an Andrew Curtis on the forum from way back, would that have been you or your father? I have saved in my archive a bunch of photos filed under "Andrew Curtis" Here's a photo I had saved from a profile, the photo has a date stamp of 12/21/1999:

Welcome Andrew, I have Johnson loader I use often. It's been reinforced little, mounted on a wide frame. When I got it years ago it was on a narrow . I took some pics for you. Hope it helps

Yes, This was Pop and I. The Originals were early on in the Cub Cadet adventure. So glad that Pop and I spent the time together on our collection. As I work on the 122 I currently have I find that I miss having the parts and pieces readily available. On the up side my young grandson recently had his first Cub Cadet driving experience. He had some rides when he was very young and would "help" to steer.

Your loader appears to be a bit different. Most notably the cylinders for the bucket. Mine has one cylinder on the frame in the center of the bucket. The controls are also on the opposite side. I would prefer the placement you have but I am trying to maintain mine as close to original so I don't want to do many changes or adaptations. Thank you for the photos!

Good luck on your project. Yeah, i wanted my controls on the right side ,as I was very used
My farm Tractors. However after adding the foot control, I've gotten used to the left side.
I guess twenty odd years will do that. Ron

Yesterday I encountered the first "issue" with my project. After installing the front frame for the Johnson Loader I realized that the previous owner of the 122 had replaced the stock muffler and exhaust elbow on the K301 with an alternate elbow and a round muffler. I get it, in fact, I've done that in the past myself. However, it places the muffler precisely where the hydraulic pump needs to be mounted to the front frame! Not a huge obstacle but elbow and muffler need to be changed to the stock configuration. Located muffler easily. However, the exhaust elbow part, while available, has increased in cost considerably since I my time restoring Cubs years ago. Then again, the cost of everything has risen considerably since that time. I miss our trove of "donor" machines! One issue that hasn't changed is the pain and accompanying cussing that comes with busted knuckles when the wrench slips.
