Been a member for quite awhile but first post. Working on my great grandfather's old 123 after sitting in pieces for 10 years. Not really restoring just getting in back to running order four now

Took the steering column apart and didn't like the pitting I saw there so got what I thought was another 123 column. Turns out it was too short as it must have been from a newer tractor.

So I am working on extending the new column shaft but was wondering how long it should be for a 123. When I rigged it up 27.75 inches seemed about right. Wanted to double check if anyone else knew before having someone weld it up.

Also wondering what the proper bearing part numbers are for these columns. ih-71930-c91 was listed in several other posts but the pictures didn't look quite the same. For lack of better terms it looked like the races had a more square cross section profile than what I have.

Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.

Did some more research. Saw a few mentions of 27.5 inches so I am close. Also saw mention of the shaft sticking out 2 inches past the column which I will check later today.

Any thoughts on the bearing part number?

The 71930 kit covers all Cub steering columns.

If the steering column is too short the hood may hit the steering wheel when opening.

Good thought on the hood hitting. Temporarily put the grill and hood on last night and had about an inch clearance. So going to get it welded up as I have it now.
