Looking for a wide frame gear drive. Not much available locally to pick from. An 86 popped up recently that looks decent. I know it has a small engine, but what are the pro and cons of this model?
Want to add a gear drive to my hydros. Looking for something that will tow the lawn aerator a bit easier than my hydros. If I choose to put a 14hp in it, is it direct bolt in? Currently using a 1250 with a 44 deck

Your 1250 should have no problem pulling a roller around.
Something is amiss somewhere.
You will have issues cramming a 14HP in an 86 frame.

Not sure why...86 is a wide frame. K321 from a 149 would bolt right in.

That core aerator with a ton of weight on it is quite a load to pull. Seems like I have to use full forward to pull it. Hydro seems strong otherwise
