    Original no spark issue

I recently bought a cub cadet original. It’s in rough shape but it’s all there with a snow plow and 3 point hitch. Pretty good deal for $150! Been trying to get it running doing the usual stuff, fresh gas cleaning the carb fixing wiring issues. I’ve got it cranking over but I’m getting no spark...

Has anyone here ever tried to turbo a kohler k301? Or know anyone who has? I’m a big fan of keeping the old iron as it was but I have one that I was thinking of experimenting with

I thought that was the case but I double checked that after I got off work a little while ago and it did crank without the regulator ground connected. Did some digging last night and found a kit containing the points, condenser and a new coil all made in America supposedly so I’m waiting for...

so does that mean I need to find a regulator with a ground on it and would that be part of my other problems?
  7. W

    cub cadet 72

so the ground up by the regulator is just to ground the regulator itself?
  8. W

    cub cadet 72

    yes there is

    cub cadet 72

ive been over that diagram more times than i can count lol and there is a ground wire shown in that diagram going from the battery to the regulator
  10. W

    cub cadet 72

yes but there was a ground wire in the harness that went to the original regulator and the engine wouldnt crank over unless it was grounded

    cub cadet 72

    cub cadet 72

  13. W

    cub cadet 72

the old one also had ground and no tab for lights since the tractor did not come with them the new one does not have a tab for ground

    cub cadet 72

    cub cadet 72

how would i test the ohms? ive always had horrible luck when it comes to electric ignition systems lol. when i had the gen rebuilt i had them replace the stock coils in it to 30 amp to get more juice out of it. could that have anything to do with it?

    cub cadet 72

Well I spoke too soon. After running for a while she started running bad acting like the points were out of adjustment I shut it down and after letting it cool off I checked the points and the plastic on the points had melted causing them not to spark. Any suggestions?
