I added front hydraulics on my 782 and 1450 to use my front blade with hydraulic angle. It was really handy for a couple of Winters but since I got something bigger to handle snow, the blade has been sitting for probably 10 years now. I almost got it out last Winter to use on some sidewalks...
I added power steering to my 1450 back when I used to have a loader on it and moved the lift lever to the left side. I sold a few of my other 1450s but the power steering makes this one so nice to drive that even though the others were in nicer shape, I've kept this one to work around the yard...
It's been a few years but when I fixed my 1450 I just removed the spring and welded up the worn areas before filing them square. I used a couple of washers as shims. Probably not as nice as the kit but it has been working normally for 15 years now. Just another option for those who are going...
I put a loader on my 149. Any modifications I made were done to the loader and it just bolted on. I'm sure the same could be done with a loader and backhoe to a 169 without modifying the tractor, but a restore on the 169 and another tractor for a worker sounds good too.
The thing I liked...
Looks great! I'm glad you finally got it installed and thanks for uploading the pictures. When the IH dealership in Rexburg Idaho closed, it was sitting on the shelf and destined to be junked. My dad brought it home in the original box and it sat in an old granary for 30 years, then I brought...
The button on the dash is something a PO installed. You'll probably have to follow the wires to see what it is hooked to.
I believe the 149 I owned had a 12v socket in that spot.
PS: The windbreaker I sent you a while back was made to fit a wide frame like that one (y)
These Ditch Witch wheel weights are what I use on my cubs and they are perfect. 100LB each and they fit inside the wheel. The only downside is they are a little heavy when installing. I have one tire that is checking and starting to leak and I have been just airing it up instead of fixing it...
When I did the power steering upgrade on my 1450 and 782, I bought the bracket (circled in red below) from a newer model cub through an auction site. It bolted right on and has worked great. It would be easy to make one that fits your cylinder and it would definitely hold up a lot better. I...
You could always cut the welds and remove the flat plate on the end and bolt one of these from Aaron on there
It would basically look like the below pic but with the clevis instead of the four hole plate like you have now.
I'd probably make a clevis that bolts onto the existing four bolts...
You guys are giving me Spring Fever. We still have over a foot of snow on the garden plot. Latest Spring thaw we've had in years.
Forecast calls for a few more inches again this week.
My parents had a #2 that sat around for years before Dad told me to take it home. The tires were not original and were split and rotted. I just slipped a spare set of front wheels/tires from a cub tractor on and have been running it with those for several years now. I needed a couple of...
I have installed hydraulic power steering on a 782 and a 1450 with bolt on parts and custom hoses but both of these had ported pumps so I was able to plumb into that circuit.
I gave $50 for an electric power steering pump for a 15-19 Kia Soul. It has the controller and pump all in one unit and...
When I put a newer style deck on my 782, I found it was pretty easy to just replace the PTO on the tractor with one that had the larger drive pulley matching the mower. The PTO was starting to have issues anyway so I just ordered a new one and bolted it on. The newer deck and drive PTO...
