It should be fixed if Charlie'd keep his mitts off the controls Keeper of the Holy Hy-tran - Lake Barrington, IL Operation Lifesaver volunteer - Look Listen & Live - www.oli.org How'd ya manage to archive it like this Charlie??? Keeper of the Holy Hy-tran - Lake Barrington, IL Operation Lifesaver volunteer - Look Listen & Live - www.oli.org You know, I was thinking that there has never been a 1/16" scale Cub Cadet Original made. Having Scale Models make a commemorative scale model of an Original w/mower deck to mark the 50th Anniversary would be neat. Maybe even both 1/16 and 1/8 scale!! How this for an idea. Saftey, the first thing to be forgotten when you hurry. A set of conerative tractors would be nice, maybe an original, 70, 149, 1650 and a 782. Sorta hit the highlights of the best models. Mike - "casual lay person" still wouldn't understand or care. Pin Tool Inventor I wanted it all - but I settled for nothing Well if they have live demos of what these great little machines can do. I will volunteer. Happy Cubbin If you are going to make a commerative, it should be the Original, since that is whre it all started and that is the only model that will be 50 yrs. old. The Cub Patch keeps growing...50 plus and counting It definaly needs to be more than a static display show, while nice, they show nothing to the casual lay person of what these little machines can really do. I suggested Louisville as the site for something like this 5 yrs ago but the plant where Cubbies were built was tore down for an airport expansion 10+ yrs ago. I vote Brownsville, TN. Maybe Ertl could issue a commemorative complete set of 1/16 scale Cub Cadets spanning the 50 years starting with the 123 through today. They likely still have all the dies for the various series. Sounds like a very good plan. 1. Fall of the year is always pretty most places. 2. I truly believe "if you build it people will come" so a great variety of motels is a must. 3. Guy's let us not forget the handicapp this is once in a lifetime I would not want my wife and her wheelchair or anybody else's be left out. Ken, now thats a really cool idea. We could desine a CubShuttle to cary 4+opperator with a cart to cary 8. Use donated parts from a few 1X9s. I'm sure it would see lots of service. Guys think about it .. you know how crowded it is to walk shoulder to shoulder trying to see shows/vendors/dealers ect. are you sure you want to hear a few hundred Kohlers and play bumper cars with cubs ? My right hip and back gets bad just going to my mail box and I have to take a break on the carport before I can go up the steps into the house but I don't think riding around on cubs is a good idea. Pin Tool Inventor I wanted it all - but I settled for nothing I like the idea of the time line grouping but what about guys like charlie that have an entire collection that splits them up all over the show? OK, Charlie, Bryan, are you guys poofing each other, or am I just out here in the dust(mud)bowl seeing things? Last night about 11:18 or so, it said Charlie had a new post, and this morning about 3:45 it said Bryan had a new post, and neither one of them are there. Brownsville, Tenn. is just north of I-40, about 64 miles East of Memphis.(court house to courthouse) It's about 30 miles West of Jackson,Tenn. Which has a lot of lodgeing and eateries. This isn't scientific, but just as an FYI exercise, it will give an idea. Brownsville itself only showed 2 lodgeing choices. you can have the yellow and white, set up by the years/models to group them together to show the time line of production to the public, have a Red corner for them 82 series cubs. And I also prefer to cruise around on the cub over lots of walking, to much walking tends to flare up my bad ankle. Cheers Mike and Michele T Brendan the thought of a few green rigs being towed by cub cadets is a beautiful thought. Reminds me of home with the old mans 318 green machine behind the "Deere Hunter". Ken, was thinking the same thing about the foot ball game ! Myron- I don't think it's the cart before the horse yet. It's just trying to see how big the cart's gonna be, so we can figure out how many Mike maybe we can use cub for transportation as welll as showing them off. ok Myron chalk it up the still being realatively young. I like this whole idea. I still vote to have it in Brownsville, current home of cub cadet and been that way since the early 80's I know alot of guys would love to tour the plant. Alot also depends on how many come, are there enough hotels in the area, places to eat. Its no good if its a small run down town with no places to eat or stay for those not camping. Yea Let's have it up north I mean after all they get ALL the plow days , shows , everybody's close enough to eachother they can take a cab. Pin Tool Inventor I wanted it all - but I settled for nothing I'm suggesting either northern or central Illinois for a location. I think it is a bit more of a central location than Kentucky, TN or any of those areas. Even southern Illinois would be better in my opinion. There's always room for one more... ![]() Charlie P. Not me anymore... I'm going to bed. My pea brain ususally gets me into too much trouble after the first suggestion. Others with by far more talent can takeover. Just because I am one doesn't necessarily mean that I can spell... instigator. Digger you got this page all outa wack ... your post at top mine a few minutes later at the bottom ... RTFM ;) Pin Tool Inventor I wanted it all - but I settled for nothing They need a life Pin Tool Inventor I wanted it all - but I settled for nothing Looks like you guys are thinkin pretty hard about this. "Every Cub has beauty but not everyone sees it." Myron, I think most will agree it needs to be around the Brownsville TN plant area, we need a contact in that area that knows it better and to what time of year to hold it, so as to hopefully have nice dry but not super humid/hot weather. Dean does have good ideas for things for our better halves to do if they are not into tractors. I think a cub cadet homecoming would be a neat scenario, while I to lament that the Louisville works are gone. Its no use dwell on it. So many cubs have come from that plant since the early 80's when it went online that it makes the natural location for this. I would like to see the show kept outdoors, using a cub as a means of transport, espicaly for my wife who has a bad knee and cannot walk distances, is important, as well as for demostrations. The next big step is probably comunication with MTD on the location desires and what they have to say. Mike and Michele T Dean S: good points...however there are lots of carts getting before the horses. It seems to me that we need to get the basic scenario concept and a recommended location in hand before we try to expand into other areas... TN would be nice, is there any other place with that much cub manufacture history? As far as the wives and kids that don't enjoy the tractors that we love they should be included in some thing. The national farm toy show in Iowa has bake sales and craft shows for the wives, not sure about the kids things I was a kid and all I wanted was the tractors (sister could have not cared less). A coloring contest for the rug rats would be good (the next paint scheme for CC I'd like to see an issue of a tractor in the same type of idea of the Spirit of 76. Maybe gold coloring, or decal setups. I love all the ideas posted so far, but something that really needs to be stressed is mutual coperation between both of the large online groups, MTD and everybody else. Let any bygones be that and lets celebrate our beloved brands 50th!! I think I may just keep my CCO and further its restoration alone a bit, while still working the old gal weekly. I would hope to see reps from MTD at some of the larger plow days over the next couple of years for brain storming sessions with the guys. This should happen at both the large plow days in IL and IN as well as the eastern events to include as many as possible. I would hope for a show ground that could include areas to be plowed as thats what many of the operators are into and what has really grown this hobby. At the local show yesterday, they interviewed a guy on what he feels the future of our hobby is. He said that it is very bright with many more getting into the hobby due to its ease of transport over say a full size farm tractor. Less expensive, atleast for the moment, but he sees that changing as more get into the hobby. It needs to be a major event with media coverage, RFDTV ect. It would be nice to see a huge dinner sponsered by MTD/CC on like Saturday evening. RSVP would be needed of coarse. For those that dont camp, if thats an option at the show location, we need to get with the local motels to assure enough lodging for those traveling in from out of state. I cant wait till 2011. Cheers Mike Myron B. Yepper, you're right. I apologize for not mentioning you also in the parade idea. I like the whole idea of the parade, and stuff, like that free tractor that was mentioned a while ago on the main forum. I also think that cub cabdet should build a GT with all the old looks, but all the new technology, like the occ, or my favorite, the 1X8/9 series. "Friends Don't Let Friends Drive Green Tractors..." From the "back patting" department: I never really meant to start a collection. Hi Marlin & Curtis: Yes I also agree with the parade...I hinted at that with the comment #7 with the reference to the RPRU scenario....I believe that with the support of Cub Cadet collecting community (all forums) we could easily set some records here....particularly if the location is in a more-or-less central part of the US and within reasonable travel distance for all. All Cub Cadets regardless of their "condition" should be welcome...Trailer Queens and show dogs yes but there are so many more that are just regular users and not "fixed-up" that would be interesting to see....And many of us have accessories and equipment mounted that would also be interested to see... I guess I can now announce that the Cub Cadet Original that was used as the base tractor to make the hydrostatic garden tractor that IH based its decision on to build a Hydro Cub will be available for display. When I visited with the Vice President of North American Propel Operations awhile back he thought it would be a fantastic idea and the Sunstrand (Sauer Danfoss) prototype will be on display if enough interest is shown. This really does sound like a hell of a good time to celebrate the legend. Everybody needs a parade. Try to get all the Cub Cadets that can, to come. (not just the dressers) If nothing else, should try for Guiness book of records for most single brand garden tractors in a parade, or even at one site. Personally I'd like to see their new Hoovercraft solar powered Cub Cadets. Pin Tool Inventor I wanted it all - but I settled for nothing My thinking as of now: Cub Cadet 50th anniversary ideas and suggestions "Every Cub has beauty but not everyone sees it." |
