The IH nomenclature says it is a blade up front or in the rear if it has a dragging or pushing action...see your parts books, accessories manuals, attachment guides, etc. A plow is used to turn dirt. See same references.

We already had this discussion awhile back. Skinny on it is that we decided to use the IH nomenclature here, as we do with most other item descriptions.

There is a reason for the terminology distinction. Ads, posts or conversations referring to a plow then mean only ONE thing, and there is minimum chance for confusion and therefore the wrong part being ordered or the wrong information given.

This does contrast with the common Midwestern use of "plow" for a snow-moving implement, but the logic behind it is clear nonetheless.

Additional weight is given to IH's usage when you consult "Webster's New World College Dictionary, Fourth Edition," which lists as the PRIMARY definition of plow "a farm implement used to cut, turn up, and break up the soil."
